Horace M. Smith was a New York Stationer and manufacture of Gold and steel dip pens beginning after the Civil War. Mark Twain has been noted to have frequented the H. M. Smith Pen Shop on Nassau Street in Manhattan, New York. He favorited the Wirt Pen which he purchased at The Smith Shop.
