Two methods of making a thistle bud.
A small amount of leather. 20 x 20 cm (7.8 x 7.8 inches) or more less if you cut it thriftily.
For this brooch we will need: 1. The genuine leather or suede in green shade. 0.4 mm - 0,8 mm (1 oz. - 2 oz.) 2. Genuine leather or suede - dark pink color. 0.4 mm - 0,6 mm (1 oz. – 1.5 oz.) 3. Paper wrapped wire 0.95 mm (gauge #20 or #18) – 26 cm (11 inch). 4. Paper wrapped wire 0.55 mm (gauge. #24) - 3 cm (1,2 inch). 5. 30 mm (1,2 inch) brooch bar. 6. Polystyrene bud or ball - 2.5 cm (1 inch) by 3 cm (1,2 inch), or cotton bud, or cotton wool. 7. Monofilament (fishing line) thin or strong threads in the tone of green leather with a needle. 8. PVA glue. 9. Universal glue - Polyurethane glue for leather. 10. Toothpick 11. Tweezers (optional). 12. Sharp scissors small and large 13. Wire cutters 14. Pliers 15. Awl 16. Ruler 17.
