A Simplicity 3835...a Misses' Daytime Dress and Night Gown Sewing Pattern in Size 14.
The unprinted pattern is cut and all the pieces are there except for G Armhole Flare. The instructions are there but tanned, brittle and in rough shape. The envelope is in good vintage condition with tanning, tears, holes and wear. The envelope flap is torn off. Copyright 1941.
During the War Effort, the quality of paper for sewing patterns goes down. Not in the ingredients for the pattern tissue paper (this stays remarkably strong and useable) but in the ingredients for paper for envelopes and instructions. This resulted in a high acid content in the paper and it didn't hold up well. The instructions for this particular pattern are so fragile that I have enclosed them in cardboard. You will need to carefully unfold them and photograph them or copy them. Most of the important information is there. The worst places are along the original folds...small pieces are missing.
The missing Piece G is shaped like a lopsided donut. A little tricky to draft but cut one out of muslin and keep adjusting until it fits. Well worth it. Piece A Blouse Front has a tiny tear. Piece E Skirt Back has a small hole.
All patterns are vintage items and sold…AS IS. Although I maintain a smoke-free and a pet-free studio, I have no control over where items have been previously. I attempt to represent my goods as honestly as possible, but sometimes something will get by. If you have any doubts about an item, E-MAIL ME! I want to make sure that you will be pleased with your purchase. I will make a refund as merchandise credit; buyer pays for return shipments.
Pattern comes in a zip 2 mil. plastic bag and is shipped in an envelope with a cardboard insert. The zip bag is great for storing the pattern!
Please note that I count the pattern pieces unless factory folded, assess the pattern’s condition and press the pattern as necessary. You will never purchase a pattern from me with “It looks like it's all there” or ‘Pieces need pressing’.
