This is a pattern, designed by me, to make a hot water bottle cosy. It is quite a simple project which an experienced knitter could easily complete in a weekend. It is great for practicing basic cable stitching and, as such, is a project that could be attempted by someone new to cable stitches.
About Me, the Designer I love the old fashioned things in life, and for me, there is nothing cosier than cuddling up with a hot water bottle. It can keep out the draughts and ease life’s little aches and pains. A hot water bottle cosy is a must to keep the hot rubber away from the skin and to insulate the bottle, keeping the water inside warmer for longer. A knitted cosy adds just the right level of padding and softness to the bottle. I love the patterns and textures that can be achieved with knitting cables, and hence the Merlin’s Beard Hot Water Bottle Cosy came into being. Merlin is actually one of my cats, but I hope you will agree that the continuous curling cable in this pattern does also somewhat resemble the long wispy white beard on the legendary wizard!
If you want to practice knitting cables, if you want a fairly quick project, or if you are looking for something to make to give as a suitable Christmas present, this pattern may be just the thing.
PLEASE NOTE: you are only purchasing the PATTERN, not the finished item. If you prefer to buy the finished article, it is listed separately in my shop.
