Indigo dyed Shibori up-cycled cotton fat-quarter, for patchwork/sewing/quilting, Itajime - folded and clamped Japanese resist technique Hand dyed indigo Recycled cotton 51×70cm 20"×27.5" no. 005
This design is created by careful folding and then clamping to create a pattern. Itajime is a technique where fabric is folded then bound or clamped to form the resist. The pattern depends on the placement of the folds and how the clamps are applied I prepare the binding and dye in small batches with synthetic indigo on up-cycled cotton sheeting. Each piece is unique. It has been washed but there may be some dye residue remaining and I recommend pre-washing if intending to use with light fabrics. Very nice cotton - a slight sheen and small variations in the warp and weft make me think there is linen content in this piece. The up-cycled cotton will have variations in the weave and suppleness. I have 1 piece, slightly larger than a normal fat-quarter, available.
