Item details

My 'patchwork' yarns are a series of yarns inspired by the chaotic beauty of scrap yarns. I packed a ton of colors into this skein, because I spun two singles from two separate colorways and plied them together (16 different colors total).

This yarn should knit up in random tweedy stripes - see these links for knitted examples:

The wool I used in this dyelot is super soft organic polwarth wool from the falkland islands. No herbicides, pesticides, dips, footbaths or regular injections are used on their sheep, and no bleach or other chemicals in the processing of the wool. It is softer than my usual merino x wool, and the yarn is hardwearing (thanks to the long staple of the polwarth wool), slightly drapey, and has a slight sheen to it.

This yarn is about a bulky weight, so I'd recommend around US 8-11 knitting needles. This skein is plenty of yarn for a hat, a scarflette/cowl, a pair of mittens or fingerless gloves, or ?

Skein yardage varies a bit due to the nature of handspun yarn - all skeins are at least 3.8 oz of wool. Slightly lower yardage means a bulkier yarn, and slightly higher yardage means a slightly thinner yarn. If you purchase multiple skeins, I will select skeins that are the most similar in yardage so that your gauge will match.
