Item details

Carry your shopping in style, whatever the weather with my simple oilcloth bag. It’s quick and easy to make, with poppers on the inside to help keep your contents safe and dry. I’ve been using my bag for years and it’s still going strong!
This pdf download includes all the pattern instructions text, diagrams and colour photographs you need to make this shopping bag using oilcloth fabric to make it rain-proof!
You will need: 58x110cm of oilcloth fabric (I used Rose Bouquet by Joel Dewberry), 40x60cm lining fabric (I used solid white), two poppers (any size), matching and contrasting cotton thread, sewing machine and hand-sewing needle.
Finished bag measures 28cm wide, 34cm high, 10cm deep, without handles. Handle drop is 32cm.
The slippery qualities of oilcloth can make it tricky to work, but if you take your time, anyone can sew with oilcloth. Pattern includes top tips for sewing with oilcloth.
There are no templates needed to make this bag.
