This is a vintage book of patterns of Looney Tunes characters that you can embroider, or cross stitch, onto "waste canvas" or tear away cloth.
Each character you see is the chart form with colored squares that represent the colors and symbols that represent the stitch used.

You can now make these sharp, colorful appliques and put them onto shirts, sweatshirts, jackets, pillowcases, sheets, blankets, towels and just about anywhere you can stitch over.

Your finished character is as large as the grid size. These are worked over 8.5" x 11" canvas

The book says:
Waste canvas (also known as tear away cloth or waste cloth) is a special canvas that provides an even weave grid for placing stitches. After the design is worked over the canvas, the canvas threads are removed, leaving the design on the fabric.
