Item details

These are vintage Japanese metallic threads, old stock, unused.

This listing is for 30 yards of gold thread. Convo me regarding the thicknesses and the color you are interested in. I have varying weights in light gold, medium, coppery, deep gold and a couple more shades in between.

The thread is 14K gold over foil, on a rayon base. It is .3mm.
The look and feel of this thread is amazing! It is supple and smooth and so lustrous.

The thread is shown in the first photo and in other photos as well. It is not quite as dark as the 6th photo, which is a heavier gauge. The last photograph displays some of the thicker gauges.

I used a USA size 4 hook for the crochet displayed in this

I have used a smaller gauge crochet hook than the ones in the photo to make the little necklace or bracelet section using .4 mm swarovski and Japanese cube beads. I also did a little section doubling back single crochet. The end shows a third row.

If you would like larger amounts, as I have offered in some of my other threads, please convo me and I will try to set you up with the amount you need. In some instances, it may not be possible.

Japanese maker. This is a vintage thread. I do have a number of different weights.

Check out my listings for thread in the Vintage Textiles and Threads sections. I have at about 12 shades of gold thread (real gold), silver. The Urushi thread is gorgeous in a pale tan, wheat gold to green varietaged, brass, coppery gold and irridescent eggshell. I have several shades of green, black, gray and red.

I have flat metallic threads, a white and gold, which reminds me of birch bark, and a variety of golds as well as new colors I am listing now.

I recommend dry cleaning for the gold threads, as I do not know the type of glue used for the precious metals. If on paper, it is more delicate, and I do know that most precious items in Japan are dry cleaned.

Please read my Policies and Shipping sections.

Thanks for looking!

I ship only once weekly, typically either Friday or Saturday. Please convo me if you require something shipped by a due date. Thanks for your understanding!

I normally use USPS. IF YOU REQUIRE SPECIAL SHIPPING - EXPEDITED, please let me know PRIOR to your purchase. I will update the shipping cost for you. I sometimes charge a small handling fee for packaging, and for international shipping, as I must travel to a post office further away.

I recycle packaging whenever possible!

If you are interested in scrapbook shipping, consider adding pages. The envelope and padding make the first page more expensive, but additional pages bring down the cost for you.

I can ship First Class to France (and probably most of Europe) for one small textile item for about $7.50. More than that and the price does go up quite a lot, due to new postal regulations and ever increasing rate hikes.

Because of shipping increases, my minimum shipping fee will be $3.00 for any item. This does not include the packaging. Canadian minimum shipping is $5.50.

Due to the high postal rates, all books or printed materials will now be sent via media mail. I have increased shipping charges on some recently listed books. Please allow for extra delivery time for all printed materials! Thank you for your understanding!

If my shipping estimate for items is over by more than $1, I will refund the difference! I do add a small handling fee to cover envelopes or other shipping materials, labels, and travel to the city post office especially for international mail, which can not be processed at our tiny substation.

Consider insurance for items over $50. Required for $100 or over. Delivery confirmation or certified mail is $5.00. (I refund anything over actual cost.) I ship all items over $99 with certified mail, the cost of which is included in the shipping/handling at listing.

International purchases? Please convo me to determine shipping options and fees.

I prefer check or money order, but realize the wait
of up to 7 business days may not meet your immediate needs!

Please notify me within 3 days of payment method. No holding of items beyond 7 days.

Payment should be completed within 7 days of purchase.

Thank you!
