Stunning, antique, door plate made by, "Russwin," sometime during the first half of the previous century. It's made of solid, heavy, thick, cast bronze, not flimsy wrought, pressed, or stamped bronze, and not bronze-plated steel.
The "plates are from the 1915 Muehlebach Hotel in Kansas City, designed by Chicago architects Holabird & Roche. Hotel still exists but has been modernized and all of the hardware replaced." (Thanks Paul from TX!)
The plate has an exquisite, Neo-Classical style design, which is accentuated by a subtle, original patina.
The beauty and craftsmanship of this piece is only matched by its superb condition. There are no breaks, cracks, gouges, dents, chips, or deep scratches.
Dimensions: 3" W x 8 1/2" H x 1/4" thick (opening for knob is 1 11/16" diameter and distance from center of keyhole to center of knob hole is 2")
