Painted Ghana glass beads making technique: The following steps are made by hand. Recycled glass is broken into fragments to translucent beads, or powdered fine with a pestle to make the opaque beads. The glass (fragments or powder) is put into a mold of clay and melted in an oven. After removal and cooling beads are painted with a water-based paste and powder glass colored, applied with a cassava stem. The beads are cooked again to set the colors. Polishing is done by rubbing the beads together with sand and water on a smooth stone.
