Inspired by Harvey Garret Smith's book "the Marline Spike Sailor", these marlin spikes are hand ground, sanded and polished to a fine finished sailorly article! Wooden spikes date back centuries and are well regarded as the only tool to use when splicing cordage rope (not steel cable) as the wooden spike will not cut or tear the fibers of the rope.
Fashioned after examples found in a few New England shipwright/riggers lofts, these 8 1/2" ( each is slightly longer or shorter) are excellent tools and will add authentic saltiness to any sailors rigging bag or knife belt.
I have quite a bit of the ipe left and can fashion many of these in short order.
$100 for the spike, with a 36" hand spliced cotton lanyard ( if asked for) on order.
