Long curls, not all single curls, I have not eased them out, ideal for locks spinning, felting projects, carding, dreadlocks
See my own skein of lock spun yarn in the collage. I spun the locks and plied with fine Merino. This is so soft and has a wonderful lustre.
Leicestershire is the home of Leicester Long Wool sheep, it's also where I was born and have lived most of my life. Now I'm mostly in Spain I buy my fleeces each summer and bring them back to Spain, I would miss LLW terribly!
These lovely locks are from pedigree Leicester Long Wool sheep bred in Leicestershire, England. My house in England is only 2 miles from Dishley where Robert Bakewell first bred Leicester Long wool sheep. The farm is still there and the old barns.
I only buy Leicester Long Wool from the same breeder, every year I go to the farm and choose the fleeces I want. After choosing the fleece I scour carefully, several times. I have removed all vm I can see after carefully washing and hand dyeing with safe acid dyes. The fibre is fine and soft and the curls range from tiny almost like little spring to large more open ones.
This one is Mojo, a wonderful colour LLW sheep .Overdyeing on coloured fleece gives beautiful shades and tones. These are oranges, pinks, golds with some natural grey peeping through.
Hand dyed curly Leicester Long Wool locks. The pictures are of the locks you will receive. There are 3 sets all dyed together.
The colour is highlighted just a little to show the colours and locks Remember monitors are different but the colours are true on mine and taken with care on a Nikon camera
Hand wash with care, L.L.Wool felts very easily in my opinion
The locks make a great addition to felting projects, scarves, bags etc. or a fantastic wool for tail spun yarn.
