TINY fancy sapphire* briolettes that are perfect for a cluster pendant, or accent stones. Same size range and same yellow/orange color range. They look pretty all together. They will sparkle once you make them into jewelry. You will probably NOT find a matched set in this lot, since I've harvested the pairs to sell separately.
When I say TINY, I mean that. See the pictures with the millimeter scale or the American dime for scale. They are smaller than most of the other stones I have listed. Very dainty.
These are strung on 30 gauge silver wire. They will NOT string on anything bigger, so be aware of that.
* A note about the sapphires: Did you know that sapphire naturally comes in every color of the rainbow? The geologic name is "corundum". Pure corundum is colorless. Blue corundum is referred to as "sapphire" in the industry. Red corundum stones are called "ruby". Yup, they are the same mineral with different impurities that cause the different colors. All the colors of the rainbow except red and blue are called "fancy colored sapphires".
I use mined-from-the-ground stones that are subject to industry standard treatments. Sapphires and rubies are almost always heat-treated to enhance the color. The treatment is permanent. Sometimes additional additives such as beryllium and cobalt or leaded glass have been used. Beryllium has become pretty common and lowers the cost of the stone somewhat. Glass and cobalt additives drastically reduce the value of the stone so I try to avoid them. I will always disclose the information if I know or suspect about treatments. These are fairly old stock. They have certainly been heated and these stones may have been beryllium treated. However, I purchased them before the glass treatment became scandalously prevalent so there is no glass present in any of them.
These are pretty fancy sapphires, but they are "bead quality" which means that their wholesale prices are low compared to cut gemstones that need to be individually set. I try to pass the savings on to my customers. This is why they cost considerably less than other rainbow sapphire jewelry you may find in the marketplace. Also, I just don't believe in marking up jewelry or gems by 1000% like some in the industry do. So indulge, and enjoy!
