Locally harvested, spalted, flag-patterned boxelder knife scale/ craft blank. Tree was felled and personally milled by Jim here in southern Wisconsin, and the lumber has been aged and thoroughly dried for five years in Jim's temperature and humidity-controlled seasoning chamber. Blank has unusual red/pink, white, and grey spalting pattern that naturally resembles a flag. Alcohol was applied in some of the photos to show the wood's finished color potential. Wood has not been dyed or in any way altered from its natural pigmentation. Piece is 5 1/4 inches long, 1 11/16 inches wide, and 15/16th inch thick.
