Item details

Cocoa ash is made from the left over cocoa pods after seed removal. The seeds are then used as the main ingredient in chocolate. But the cocoa pods are left behind as a by-product. These cocoa pods have traditionally been burnt to create cocoa ash. Cocoa ash is processed to create an organic lye used in traditional soap-making in Africa. The soap produced with cocoa ash lye is called Black Soap, due to the black color left in the soap from the cocoa ash.
