Item details

Imagine you'd inherited a stash of wonderful old bits & bobs you could whip out and repurpose creatively with Martha Stewart-like flair. Take these impeccably-crafted gold buttons supplied by Her Majesty's own button maker. Never fear if you don't have a footman, simply give your favorite jacket a posh makeover and pretend you're dining at Downton Abbey. Knot them on cords to make napkin rings for a nautical-themed party, stitch onto pillows, stuff in Christmas crackers, or wrap for an unexpected holiday guest. Whose livery will bear the letter "M" in your own personal costume drama?

Please send us a note if you require more or fewer than 3 buttons.

FAQs

We always indicate the type of silver in the materials section of each listing. However, we've learnt this info doesn't appear on every shopper's device. Maddening!!! If this happens to you (in our shop or any other), look for the terms "sterling" or "solid silver" or ".800 (or higher) silver." If you don't see any of these words, then assume the piece is silver plate over base metal. Be sure to ask if you're uncertain! Two Dot Hall Tip: The quality of silverplate varies widely. Before you turn up your nose, remember heavily plated vintage pieces from good makers aren't anything like the junk you see on the market today. We don't like that stuff ourselves and wouldn't dream of selling it to you!

While we don't recommend it to you, we admit we've been running most of our own silver through the dishwasher for years with no ill effects. Generally speaking, any reasonably sturdy piece made of solid silver or heavy silver plate (and no other materials) can safely be washed on a gentle cycle. Any resulting discoloration can be easily removed with silver polish. Please use your own judgment before you decide to experiment as we offer no guarantees.

Yes! But it's a two-step process. When you check out, Etsy's system adds up the fees for each individual item and charges you the total. Then, once we figure out what our actual (lower) postage cost will be, we issue a full refund for the difference. You can expect to see the credit to your account within 48 hours. If you'd like to pay the correct amount at check out, please "Request Custom Order" so we can create a bundled package just for you.

Sorry, no. Our shipping fee only covers the cost of delivering the parcel to the address in your country. As the importer, you are responsible for paying all applicable custom duties or tariffs. Since every country has different policies, and because rates may vary depending on the specific item, we encourage you to ask your local post office for an estimate before you place your order.

Because vintage objects are irreplaceable, ensuring your purchase arrives safely is our highest priority. We pack your item carefully, get it into the post ASAP, and give you a tracking number. Simply choose the delivery option that best suits your timeframe and budget.

We price shipping charges at cost. Since Etsy’s automatic postage calculator isn’t smart enough to predict which other items you’ll choose, the charge you see listed assumes you’re only purchasing one thing. If shipping two or more items to a single address reduces our total cost, we’ll pass 100% of the savings along to you. Please let us know what combination you’re considering so we can give you a customized quote. You may be pleasantly surprised. Never fear. Even if you don't contact us before you order, we'll refund any excess shipping you've paid immediately after we post your parcel.

Please note: For deliveries outside the U.S.A., our shipping charges DO NOT include customs duties, tariffs, or any other import fees levied by the destination country.
To avoid unpleasant surprises, be sure to ask your local post office for information on customs rates and factor this extra cost into your budget before you place your order.

We fully insure every shipment. If your order has been damaged in transit, please put on your forensic detective’s hat: Leave the “scene of the crime” as undisturbed as possible, take lots of photos, and message us immediately.

Additional policies

Identifying the origin and date of antique and vintage objects is often more art than science. Sometimes even experts disagree. So, whilst we make every effort to track down accurate information, it’s possible we’ve made an honest mistake. We therefore offer no guarantees. Please use your own judgment before making a purchase.
