Item details

Disgusted with the quality of modern slips? Want to make your own comfy loungewear? Try this pattern. Choose your own delightful fabrics to wear next to your skin. These elegant pieces originate in the 1920s and 1930s. Patterns include a skimming camisole or "chemise-top", sassy tap pants or "knickers", a bias teddy (cami-knickers), also called "combinations" or "step-ins", and a bias slip.

The Camisole buttons at the center and is drawn up at the waist with a ribbon. Another ribbon goes through a self casing at the top like a medieval chemise.

The Tap Pants close at the side with snaps. They ride low on the waist. The pants flare at the bottom like a short skirt. Simple binding finishes the edges.

The bias cut of the Teddy allows it to be worn tight, yet comfortably. Shaped facings finish the top while small button inserts at the center bottom join the front and back at the crotch to form the shorts-style bottom.

The Slip is like the teddy without the buttoned bottom. The skirt is also bias cut for comfort. The skirt portion runs to mid-knee.

Light weight fabric is recommended for drape. Choices include silk, cotton, rayon, or synthetic blends like crepe, challis, batiste, voile, or satin.

Designed to fit Misses size 8 to 22. Complete instructions to arrange patterns on the fabric for the trickier larger sizes to obtain the bias cuts.

Folkwear has been around for a long time and still is. These patterns are new, not used or vintage. Ursula's Alcove is a licensed dealer
