Midi Pu Yok - Tibetan style supported spindle, medium light weight in resin stabilised Ring Gidgee and Dymondwood, titanium tipped
This lovely Tibetan style supported spindle design is an heirloom qulity item designed for a lifetime of use. It is medium light weight at 27 grams (around 0.96 oz ) and 245 mm (9.75 in) long. The photos show the one you will receive. Made in 2017 by Malcolm Fielding and Jory Freyee in the workshops of the SpindleShop, Queensland, Australia.
The shaft of this heirloom quality item is made in Dymondwood for durability, stability and long life. The tip is made from a titanium insert for extreme durability. The point is carefully shaped to be slightly rounded over to avoid damage and scratching to support surfaces, and to ensure really smooth spins at all angles.
The whorl of resin stabilised dark ring gidgee (Queensland) is a pretty bowl shape, hollowed on the top side. Ring Gidgee has highly attractive grain figure, and this wood has been treated by our special vacuum resin immersion technique to stabilise and protect the wood. This design has a very long duration medium speed spin characteristic. The balance hasbeen tuned and perfected by insertion of nickel-silver pin weighting in the rim of the whorl as needed. The spindle has been tested both for static and dynamic balance.
The top point is a slender taper to a narrow point to allow the yarn to slip the tip easily. The bottom point is well defined and designed for an effortless long spin. A support bowl is needed for using this type of spindle. I also offer support bowls on this website and can make one to order if there are none in stock.
The spindle is polished with a high shine French polish and a final gloss of carnauba wax adds durability.
All my spindles are tested before despatch and come with a free sample of our lovely fibres.

Returns & exchanges
Cancellations - please consider carefully when you order as I do not accept cancellation requests unless there are exceptional circumstances. An order cancellation involves quite a bit of time as the original order has to be removed from our database, after being entered and customer records created, refunds arranged and we have to correspond with Etsy about it. The goods involved are also then unavailable to buyers, for up to a week after we send a cancellation request to Etsy. In the event that we agree to a cancellation, we may then then make a cancellation charge of $10 US or 10% of the order value whichever is greater to cover our losses in administration time. In law in most countries a paid order is a contract between both parties, Etsy.com policy is that cancellations are at the sole discretion of the supplier.
I will replace goods at my cost (or refund item costs) that are found to be faulty in manufacture for up to six months from sale. Faulty items must normally be returned to me. Damage caused by inappropiate use or fair wear and tear is not covered by my warranty. The buyer is responsible for the cost of returning items to me, replacements will be shipped free of charge.
I can quote to repair items that have been damaged by the owner or accidentally. Please contact me for details.
Currently I am unable to take custom orders, sorry. You can ask for a copy of items that were previously sold by me on Etsy and sometimes (not always) I will be able to make the items and sell them as reserved items on Etsy. This business is based at Crystal Waters Ecovillage in Queensland Australia. I am unable to take personal callers at my premises or home. You can also find my products by a quick Google search for the Spindleshop.
