Item details

»»» PERSONALITY
This yarn is soft and fluffy with a lovely color variegation. The yarn was harvested from a discarded child's sweater. The cotton/acrylic blend is always a favorite for most crafters, being both soft and easy to care for. There are two loosely twisted plies forming this yarn: one white and the other sequences through raspberry, blush pink, and a brown that hints at sage in certain light.

This lovely stuff is also a trifle weak, so is not suitable for any project that requires high tension.

→ Love this yarn, but need a larger weight? We can now make any of our yarns thicker. ↓ See details below. ↓

»»» PROCESSING
We run a professional operation and use the most effective and efficient methods available to us, with as little waste as possible. All of our yarns are 100% recycled & reclaimed; usually from discarded sweaters. The cleaning process varies with different fibers, but only natural soaps and softeners are used. Unlike many other yarn recyclers, we take the time to steam-treat all of our yarns with professional-grade equipment. The dry steam not only straightens the yarn to its original form by removing the kink, it also adds a finishing touch - like breathing the life back into it; returning the yarn to a state that is ready for knitting, crocheting, weaving, and any other creative purpose that brings you joy!

»»» FULL DISCLOSURE
→ The pictures are intended to provide you with a good idea of what the yarn really looks like, but they may not accurately represent the details that the written description provides. Please read all of the information provided in the description before purchasing and contact us if you have any questions.
The crochet hook pictured is a 5.5mm (which may not be the recommended hook size for this yarn) and is there to give you an idea of the yarn's scale.
→ Due to the nature of the source of these yarns, joining yarn ends is inevitable. There are two yarn join methods that we use:
♥ Russian join - suitable for lofty/bulky yarns
♥ Magic/Invisible knot - suitable for thinner yarns, looser twist, and fewer plies.
♥ Wet Splice - only used in yarns with a fiber content that has ≥50% wool.
All three joining methods are secure, neat, and lay subtly into your handiwork. You may find that one of your skeins of yarn has one or two joining knots and the other skein from the same lot has none.
We always try to replace any knots that were placed by the original manufacturer, which once laid unobtrusively in the original sweater, with one of our invisible methods; but, please understand that the occasional knot may slip past unnoticed. We do our utmost to prevent any knots when possible; but, preserving as much good, useable yarn as we can is the priority and that requires the occasional need to join a few loose ends.
And, remember - if you'd rather join your yarn a different way, you can always cut the knot out. (We won't be offended.)

»»» ADDING PLIES
By adding plies of the same yarn, or even a different yarn, we can make that lightweight yarn you fell in love with into a more useable yarn weight. This is also a great way to get a unique fiber or color blend in your project. The yarns are loosely plied, so there's very little additional twist added; just enough to work together easily.
Here's how to place an order for thicker yarn:
♥ BEFORE ordering or purchasing ANYTHING, we need to have a conversation. Some yarns are better for plying than others and we'll need to discuss other details, like the gauge you're wanting and how many skeins will be needed. Just start a conversation with us online by clicking on 'Ask a Question' or 'Request Custom Order' in the Etsy listing. You can send us a message on the Home page of this website. There's also Facebook, if that works for you, too.
♥ Once we figure out how many skeins we'll need to combine to achieve the gauge you need, you will be given a code for up to 40% off and you'll be asked to purchase those skeins on Etsy.
♥ As soon as we receive your online order, we will ply your new yarns, repackage your newly re-made yarn and send it on it's merry way to your part of the world!
