Item details

Here we have a wonderful dress from Africa, made of multicolored pieces of damask brocade!

African damask brocade in a rainbow of colors, (brighter and more beautiful than my pictures!) have been assembled to make this folky dress. I think this item is from Ghana, but I don't really know.
Picture 1 shows one side, picture 2 shows the other, identical side.

This dress has been worn a bit, and the fragile trim around the neckline and sleeves has gotten a bit frayed, visible in picture 5. But the rest of the dress is in excellent condition, particularly the gorgeous damask.

To my eye, this dress could be converted into a great costume for Medieval or Shakespearean events by someone clever like you!

The dress, measured flat, is 24 inches, armpit to armpit, or 48 inches around. Please consult picture 3 to see how the pieces are laid out.
From shoulder to hem, the dress is 48 inches long.
The skirt hem is 32 inches measured flat, or 64 inches arond.
The front and the back are identically cut.

Also for sale is another quite similar dress with a green yoke, pictures 7 & 8.
