This is a vintage piece of furniture, it has been used and loved, which adds to its charm. Please don't expect to receive an item in brand new factory finished condition; this genuine vintage item has been up-cycled to a high standard. If you have any concerns, send me a message and I can happily send extra photographs or answer questions. I restore old furniture because it is so often better built than modern tat. It was made to last & with a facelift, its good to go on for many more years.....
I work very hard to ensure that my items are in the best condition possible. However, as they are antique or vintage items they may have scratches, nicks, wood splits and dents. This all adds to the character of the item, and I feel it makes it truly beautiful. You are buying a piece of history. Please request more photos if required.
I use a combination of hand painting & also air brushing to paint my furniture ; this method eliminates overloading & runs which are so often present on upcycled 'shabby chic' furniture & gives a lovely, smooth, even finish. Waxing, oiling & buffing is always done by hand.
The wood was thoroughly treated for woodworm, prior to commencing work (none was found).
Love vintage furniture? Take a look at all the items I have for sale. My stock is constantly changing and my inventory is added to every month, although I am quite a new shopfront on Etsy. I have been restoring furniture for 30 years, started through necessity in my teens, with no money to buy expensive shop furniture. I was initially encouraged and inspired by my very practical and talented mum, who is still upholstering & cabinet making in her 70's!
I can be found on social media as "Emma's Emporium" or "theemporiumofemma". Many of my pieces are still waiting to be customised. Message me with your ideas!
