FAQs

A sock blank is a piece of knitted fabric that is designed to be unraveled and knit from directly. Once the sock blank has been painted, I call them art blanks. (Some people call them sock blankets.) To knit from a blank, simply unravel the blank from the right end (the wrong end has a lock stitch on the sides and you won’t be unable to unravel) and cast on. The yarn will have a temporary kink until you block your finished piece and the yarn smooths out. It is impossible to tell what your finished socks/shawl/hat might look like when knitting from a blank. Watching the art disappear from the blank as you knit and then transform into your knitted item is exciting and a huge part of the fun!

A sock blink is much a smaller sock blank. Blinks are approximately 20 grams or 85-90 yds and can be used in place of a mini skein in a project. Sock blinks are also fun to give as gifts or collect or trade.

Unfortunately, at this time, I am not accepting custom orders.

I use professional acid dyes on superwash merino wool blends. While it’s always a joy to hear from someone who has been inspired to paint their own sock blanks, I do not disclose my techniques or tools or suppliers as they are unique to my brand.

I suggest you hand wash or machine wash your projects in a garment bag, on the most gentle cycle your machine has, in cool water with a mild wool wash. Avoid hot water, lots of agitation, and regular detergents. Spin your project out or roll it up and press between towels to get most of the water out, then reshape and lay flat to dry completely.

Any customs fees are the responsibility of the recipient. Your package will be marked as merchandise and include an invoice. It is illegal for me to mark your purchase as a “gift” – please do not ask.

Yes! I do my best to automatically combine multiple orders from the same buyer but occasionally one will slip past me and they go out in separate orders. To ensure that your multiple orders are combined, please message me after you’ve placed your orders. Any overages in shipping charges will be refunded on combined orders.

Returns & exchanges

I want you to be happy. If you receive your purchase and do not like it, you have 2 weeks from the time you receive your order to return your items. Yarns must be shipped back in unused condition (no smells, with original band, still in original condition). I do my best to provide images that accurately reflect the yarn. I'm happy to answer any questions you have before a purchase and provide additional images if I can. If it is more than 2 weeks from the purchase date and for some reason you find that you are not happy, please convo me. I'm sure we can work out some resolution! :-)

Buyer is responsible for shipping and handling for returns.
