Seed may be started indoors 2 months prior to the last frost date in your area OR it may be directly sowed outdoors after all danger of frost has passed. Soaking seeds overnight in water can help with germination rate and speed.
Indoor germination: Using your preferred seed starting mix, sow seeds ¼” deep and keep soil moist and keep pots in a warm place. Germination can take up to two weeks.
Outdoor planting: Sow seeds ¼” deep and 8-12” apart, keep area moist until seeds sprout which can take up to 2 weeks.
Notes: Tropical Milkweed requires warm soil to germinate. We have also had great success placing a few seeds in a small clear dish of water, covering the dish with plastic wrap and placing on top of the refrigerator. Seeds will often germinate this way very quickly. “Sprouts” may then be placed in small containers of soil and moved to a sunny window or placed under grow lights and transplanted outdoors after danger of frost has passed.
Our seed is chemical-free, organically grown and hand harvested by us at just the right time of year to aid in germination for you. Seed has been test germinated and the results were great.
