This sketchbook came from two desires of mine. The first was that I have always wanted to learn how to make my own paper. The second was that I had a lot of trimmings from the wood and hard cover journals that I wanted to make use of. So I went online, borrowed some books from the library, and learned how to make paper from the leftovers I had collected. The texture produced from the handmade process of the paper was so inspiring and I decided the best use for this beautiful recycled paper would be in a sketchbook.
The design is a simple center saddle stitch pamphlet style sketchbook. The pages have not been trimmed down so as to keep the beautiful raw edges that is prominent in handmade paper. The paper is most suited for media this is not heavily watered. The cover is made from artist Stonehenge paper, which is a sturdy paper, but makes for a soft cover journal. The cover for this journal has been pre-decorated with the saying "Explore" using a white gel pen. The back cover is still blank and available for you to decorate to your liking!
