PDF for a vintage knitting pattern, beautiful traditional Fair Isle Design for a Jumper and skirt for small girl, 22, 24, 26 inch chest.
This design is knitted in 4-ply fingering, in several colours, giving a warm jumper and matching skirt with a pleated-type texture. You need 5, 6, 7 oz ground colour (125 g, 150 g, 175 g) and 1/4 oz (6 g) each of 3 further colours. You need old UK sizes needles 10 and 12 (US 3, 2; metric 3.25 mm, 2.75 mm) and the ability to hold two colours of yarn at the same time.
I discovered this pattern in my mother's collection, and although I am not too enamoured by the colours chosen, I cannot dismiss the skill and design ability of the original designer. The fair isle design is delightful and by looking at the black and white photo above you can imagine a variety of lovely colours you could employ.
