as I have lots of kantha left-overs from my sewing projects - too many to us them all up - I decided to sell some of them. perhaps there's someone out there who'd like to make something of the colourful kantha patches. this listing is for a bundle of about 450 grams of kantha scraps - I will weigh them to make sure you get as much as possible within the shipping weight range of up to 500 grams. they will measure about 5 x 5 inches at least, but will come in all kinds of shapes and with different colours and patterns.
the pictures above are NOT of the exact pieces you will get, but if required, I am happy to take a picture of your exact scraps, just convo me.
please do read my shipping policies before placing an order!
about kantha quilts:
bengali kantha quilts consist of several layers of recycled cotton or silk saris. they are held together by a simple, running, “kantha” stitch that is applied row after row and gives the fabric its unique, slightly wrinkled effect. this kind of embroidery is most popular with the rural women of bangladesh and west bengal in india, who spend hour upon hour creating these wonderful textile pieces, each one-of-a-kind. kantha quilts are decorative as well as useful – as day blankets, bed covers, curtains, wall hangings - or for sewing!

I ship items from Switzerland by Swiss Post. there are three shipping options outlined below - at checkout, you can choose any of these from the drop-down menu.
as shipping is very expensive from Switzerland, and I am trying to keep the shipping costs as low as possible, I offer economy shipping without tracking for packages weighing less than 2kg. I have had inquiries / complaints in the past from customers who chose economy shipping not realising that they would not be able to track their package - please be aware of this! if it is important for you to have tracking and insurance, please choose shipping option number 3!
1) standard (economy) shipping: cheapest option, without tracking and insurance (unless the package weighs more than 2kg). parcels take on average two to three weeks to reach non-european destinations, and about one week to reach countries within europe. however, there have been cases where delivery took up to a month. unfortunately, there is no tracking available for this type of shipping if the package weighs less than 2kg.
2) priority shipping without tracking: delivery time usually within three to seven business days to any destination. please note that this option does not include tracking or insurance if the package weighs less than 2kg.
3) priority shipping with tracking: delivery time usually within three to seven business days to any destination, this option includes tracking as well as insurance.
if your package weighs more than 2kg and less than 5kg (which is usually only the case if you buy a heavy quilt or two quilts, for example), I ship economy or priority with tracking. both options include insurance.
I refund shipping cost if it exceeds the actual cost by more than $2.
I cannot take responsibility for items lost or damaged during shipping. if you would like to insure your purchase, please choose priority shipping WITH tracking. if your package weighs over 2kg it will automatically be insured.
items are shipped within one to three days, unless stated otherwise in my shop announcement. if you are in a hurry to receive your package, let me know and I will do my best to ship as soon as possible!
in the etsy system, it is quite difficult to predict the cost of shipping for more than one item / combined orders. often, customers end up paying excess shipping fees, which I always refund. however, sometimes it happens that customers are charged too little. in this case, I reserve myself the right to ask you to cover the additional shipping cost, or to cancel your order, if you don't feel like paying additional fees.
I accept paypal and major credit cards, due at checkout. cancellations are accepted if made before the item is shipped.
please note that internationally shipped items may incur additional duties and taxes, which customers will have to pay themselves. I cannot take responsibility for these fees. for my european customers - Switzerland is unfortunately NOT part of the EU! therefore, you will have to pay duties / VAT according to your country's customs regulations.
Returns & exchanges
I do want you to be happy with your purchase, so items may be returned within 14 days of delivery. you will get a full refund if the item is undamaged, however, I cannot refund you for shipping, and you will have to cover your own shipping costs to send the item back. If you are unhappy with the quality of your item, please let me know. I will always issue refunds and exchange items regardless of date of purchase, if it is due to problems with the quality of an item.
all the vintage fabrics I use are pre-washed. if you purchase a dyed item or one made of ethnic fabric, please hand-wash it separately in lukewarm water and do not let it soak for a long time. do not wash dangles and leather handles. if an item needs special treatment, I will state so in the item's description.
