Item details

Using a traditional ‘Storm at Sea’ quilt block which creates a fabulous curved illusion, this truly amazing quilt accompanies her current fabric collection for Moda ‘Ahoy Me Hearties’ and has a wonderful movement and flow created by the meticulous placement of the fabrics and colours

My quilt is made using yardage from my 'Ahoy Me Hearties' fabric collection for Moda. A kit for this quilt including pattern and templates is now available on ETSY:

This detailed 20 page pattern guides you through cutting your fabric, piecing the blocks, assembling the quilt top and includes notes on preparing the quilt backing, wadding and layering up.

The fabric requirements to piece the front, back and bind this quilt are provided.

Please note that in addition, a Marti Michell Storm at Sea Diamond 2-Piece Template Set (8065), for cutting diamond block pieces, is also recommended. These are available on my ETSY store here:

The finished quilt measures 73 x 73 inches.

Uses some more advanced patchwork techniques so the project is best suited to intermediate and advanced quilters.

Beautifully written pattern, I embarked on the task and although it's a bit beyond my skills I can do it ! What helps is to be calm and a good seam ripper. I would recommend good lighting too (doing it after a day's work with tired eyes...) I would have appreciated more information/pictures for the cutting part as I ended up with some stripes in the wrong direction. I must say that I had to replace a couple of fabrics as the local shop did not have them all. This pattern is like a 5000-pcs jigsaw but thanks to the accurate directions is slowly coming together ! Thank you Janet
