Item details

The paper is made from a combination of abaca fiber and the white inner bark from the kozo tree. It's remarkably thin, with very deckled edges, yet it's really strong.

I cook, clean and beat the kozo fiber by hand and then combine it with the abaca fiber and beat it again.

Abaca is a very strong versatile pulp from the banana leaf. It's commonly known in the international trade as Manila Hemp and is considered the strongest of natural fibers. It is 3 times stronger than Sisal fiber, and is far more resistant to salt water decomposition than most of the vegetable fibers.

I dyed the pulp a deep coral before forming the sheets.

Each sheet is pulled by hand, pressed and allowed to dry in the sun.

Listing is for five sheets of 12 x 18 inch paper.
