KNITTING PATTERN for "SILVER STRAND" SCARF or SHAWL Long Light Scarf/Shawl Easy Knit Summer Shawl This pattern was inspired by “Silver Strand” a beautiful deserted sandy beach , near the town of Louisburgh, County Mayo, in the West of Ireland. The beach has miles and miles of pristine golden sand edged with undulating, grasscovered sand dunes. The glorious clear blue-green water, golden sand, whitetopped waves, green grasses and grey pebbles are enlivened with the occasional pinks and lilacs of seashells and the pink bog roses that grow near the shore. All of these magnificent colours are captured in this beautiful scarf/shawl. The scarf is light as a feather and will float after you as you stroll along the beach, hike through the mountains or saunter along the city streets. It is also deliciously soft and warm . The yarn used is a wonderful light, airy, warm and comfortable mohair silk from Rowan. The scarf is long enough to be wound around your neck at least twice, or can be worn long and loose. If you knit the shawl/wrap version it will fit nicely around your shoulders keeping you warm and casually elegant at once.
This easy-knit summer shawl will be perfect for your summer vacation, for summer parties, evenings strolling on the beach or dining under the stars at your favourite beachside restaurant. It would also be ideal for a summer wedding or party.
The scarf will also work perfectly for these occasions, and will also be wonderful in the colder seasons when you can wrap it round and around you to keep you beautifully warm and cozy.
You could make this great scarf/shawl for yourself (great idea ! ) or as a welcome and loved gift for any of the women in your life- Mother. Mom, Sister, Best Friend, Aunt or Daughter. It would also make a great Graduation or Birthday gift, and of course a fabulous Christmas gift.
The pattern can be knit as a long, flowing scarf or knit into a wide, short wrap.
