Teardrop - Titanium tipped Russian style supported spindle in resin stabilised Jamaican Fiddlewood and Dymondwood, medium light weight
This Russian-style spindle is a stock item and you will receive an item very similar to the one in these photos, each piece has different grain patterns. This heirloom quality spinning tool is an original designed and made by Jory Freyee and made under the guidance of master craftsman Malcolm Fielding in the workshop of The SpindleShop.
The spindle shaft is made from Dymondwood for strength, stability and long service life. The spindle tip is made from an insert of hard grade titanium for extreme long life.
This design is very fast and light with an excellent spin and thin flicking tip. The whorl of resin stabilised Jamaican Fiddlewood (from wood grown locally in Queensland) is a pretty shape. The resin stabilising process makes the wood harder and protects against warping or cracking, and adds depth to the finish.
Your spindle is finished to a smooth surface, polished with a french polish and then a final gloss of carnauba wax for a long lasting shine and protection.
The support tip has a fine smooth point for long spins. The flicking tip is slender and allows good speeds to be attained with ease. This spindle has a medium to high speed spin, long sustain and excellent balance.
Your spindle is checked for quality and spin before despatch and comes with tip protectors and is packed with some Tasmanian Merino roving and a signed tag with the woods used listed and date of making.
Spindle weight - 28-30 g (about 1- 1.06 oz) approx length about 9.75 in (245 mm)

Cancellations - please consider carefully when you order as I do not accept cancellation requests unless there are exceptional circumstances. An order cancellation involves quite a bit of time as the original order has to be removed from our database, after being entered and customer records created, refunds arranged and we have to correspond with Etsy about it. The goods involved are also then unavailable to buyers, for up to a week after we send a cancellation request to Etsy. In the event that we agree to a cancellation, we may then then make a cancellation charge of $10 US or 10% of the order value whichever is greater to cover our losses in administration time. In law in most countries a paid order is a contract between both parties, Etsy.com policy is that cancellations are at the sole discretion of the supplier.
I will replace goods at my cost (or refund item costs) that are found to be faulty in manufacture for up to six months from sale. Faulty items must normally be returned to me. Damage caused by inappropiate use or fair wear and tear is not covered by my warranty. The buyer is responsible for the cost of returning items to me, replacements will be shipped free of charge.
I can quote to repair items that have been damaged by the owner or accidentally. Please contact me for details.
Currently I am unable to take custom orders, sorry. You can ask for a copy of items that were previously sold by me on Etsy and sometimes (not always) I will be able to make the items and sell them as reserved items on Etsy. This business is based at Crystal Waters Ecovillage in Queensland Australia. I am unable to take personal callers at my premises or home. You can also find my products by a quick Google search for the Spindleshop.
