Some even are mottled with other colors such as light purple or dark yellow. If you turn around the beads very hard, you can even get a glimpse of slight adularescence of Moonstone from few beads, evidencing it IS Moonstone ....
~~~ Normally on the market that are classified into White (Rainbow) Moonstone, Grey Moonstone and Peach Moonstone, it owes its name to that mysterious shimmer which always looks different when the stone is moved. It was used in jewelry by the Romans who believed that the stone was formed from the light of the moon. Moonstone is considered a sacred stone in India.
The shimmer of light of the moonstone is something very special in the fascinating world of gemstones. Specialists refer to the phenomenon as 'adularescence'. The cause of it is the lamellar inner construction of the gemstone. Incident light rays are refracted and scattered in the stone. In this way, a unique light effect comes about, and it is this which makes the moonstone so distinctive and so desirable.
Deposits are found in Sri Lanka, Burma (Myanmar), Brazil, India, Madagascar and the U.S. ~~~
