Item details

This is from the Spinster Aunts' collection. Having grown up during the depression, there were two sisters who never married. They had fine figures and an eye for fashion. They also found every bargain in Washington County. After both sisters had passed away during the 1980s, a huge collection of items were discovered. The depression had turned them into hoarders. This fabric is from their collection. It's been given a good airing. There are no visible stains, mildew, damage or musty smells.

This fabric has a maker's mark on the selvage as JP Stevens & Co. Inc, Fuller Fabric. The copyright was registered in 1946 and MoMA ran an exhibition of fabrics in 1956 by Fuller. So Fuller has a long history of art fabrics. The pattern is obvious mid-century cotton, intended for the home, perhaps for curtains or a house dress. The fabric measures 38.5" (97.8 cm) across and 5.4 yards (4.95m m) long. It weighs 1.16 lbs (525 g).
