From the Corvette factory in Bowling Green, Kentucky-early 2000's

Fordite or Detroit Agate is the resulting over spray from the paint rooms in old auto factories. Eventually it became too thick and had to be removed from the rails and carriers that took the autos through the ovens. Legend has it that some workers took some of this waste product home and started cutting it into what is now a piece of automotive history.
