A Pfaff 261 in an industrial base and motor. I have had this machine a couple of years but it was never my main machine so not had loads of use, I generally used it to make buttonholes and do decorative edging stitches on finished garments. I last got it serviced at Easter, it all sews fine but I just don't use it enough to warrant keeping it for the space it takes up. These machines were made from the 1960's onwards so a good well built robust machine, sews really nicely, they have an excellent and well deserved reputation.
I've bought a brand new thread stand to go with it but haven't fitted it yet so this comes with it, takes the larger cones of thread. There is a double spool pin on the main body of the machine, this takes the smaller domestic spools of thread.
Complete with head, motor, table and new cotton stand and instruction manual.
Capable of freehand embroidery plus has an embroidery pattern dial with 50 stitches.
Ideal for light & medium work with fabrics such as cloth, silk, synthetics plus more. Can also deal with heavier fabrics such as denim and canvas.
This machine is recommend for costume repairs, film industry, sails, tents etc. Ideal for a commercial dressmaker, these used to be called a 'tailors special'!
Features: Straight Stitch Zig Zag Freehand Embroidery Twin Needle Capability 50 Built in Embroidery Stitches Sewing Speed (3000 spm) Zig Zag Width (5mm) Reverse/Back Tack Needle System (130/705H) Single Phase 240v 13 amp (can be used at home)
Accessories: Spare Needles Range of Different Feet Bobbins
I have had the machine serviced regularly but there are a couple of recommendations I would make:
The pattern wheel is a bit worn due to the age of the machine so it is not as neat with the denser satin stitch embroidery stitches as it could be, this wasn't a problem for me as I mostly used straight, zigzag and buttonhole stitches, or the looser lines of decorative stitches. It's the dense embroidery style satin stitch setting that the stitches aren't as well defined as it could be, so if that is what you would use the machine for then I would not suggest this one!
It may be possible to replace the pattern wheel, however I have not looked into it.
Also if I were keeping it I would consider replacing the tension unit, it sews fine but on a high tension, then you need to loosen it to take your work from the machine. The price reflects these 2 minor issues, second hand parts are available online, had this been done I would be asking £600+ for the machine.
You are welcome to come try the machine out, in fact I would prefer it, as I would also prefer collection in person of the machine. Our workshop (cheeky sew and sew) is based in Todmorden, West Yorkshire. OL14 5PX.
