A selection of ferrocerium striker sheaths, in an array of 5 different colours. These sheaths are designed for 4 season use, holding an 8mm/10mm antler ferrocerium striker, reverse style or top load.
In reverse style (see images 1 - 9), the antler ferrocerium striker is oriented with the antler pointing downwards. This insert style is best used in Spring/Summer - with the absence of gloves - allowing ergonomic removal.
In top load style, (see image 10) the antler ferrocerium striker is oriented with the antler pointing upwards; for ease of use in Autumn/Winter - whilst wearing gloves.
The ferrocerium striker comes standard equipped with an adjustable leather lace which has dual-purpose.
Primarily, in reverse style, the lace acts as a locking mechanism to secure the striker in the sheath, preventing unwanted detachment. To do this, simply use the leather lace - looping it over the top of the striker and securing with the sliding water bead.
In it's secondary use, the lace can be utilised as a safety feature such that, whilst in use, it can be secured around the wrist.
In top load style the lace can still be used to lock the striker securely in place without utilising the sliding water bead.
Each sheath is stitched with a belt loop, suitable for a maximum 2.5" wide equipment belt; with the optional addition of an adjustable, African slip knot lanyard, made from leather lace.
*Please note as leather is a natural material it has a tendency to stretch over time. This sheath, though secure, is not a friction fit. Whilst sheathed in reverse style it is necessary to utilise the locking mechanism to ensure the safe storage of the striker.
great wee belt sheath for my fire steel, super well made, I can see many years of use out of this!
