WEAVING LOOM KIT - LARGE - AUTUMN COLOURS

Weave your own decorative tapestry in a ready made rustic weaving frame using a selection of handspun weaving yarns. Add in pieces of fabric or treasured objects to make your weaving unique. Once complete, the frame is ready to hang on the wall and enjoy!

I learnt this style of tapestry weaving in Chile, where it is very popular. Using a few simple weaving techniques and a variety of richly-textured yarns it is possible to create highly individualistic combinations of colour and texture. The kit contains an easy-to-follow instruction leaflet which will guide you through the weaving process. No previous weaving experience is required.

Each kit comes in its own "Wild about Weaving" fairtrade cotton tote bag and includes:

+"How to weave a decorative wall-hanging" instruction leaflet
>Rustic weaving frame: approx. 32 x 39cm /12" x 15" (dimensions may vary by a few mm either side). Precise wood tone may vary from that shown.
>100g / 3.5oz (approx) selection of fair trade* weaving yarns. Please note: I may occasionally substitute yarns of similar colour and texture to those shown.
>10m / 33' warp thread
>10cm / 3⅞" handcarved wooden weaving needle
>Hessian scrap
>Driftwood

Skill level: Beginner

The weaving frames have been made by my husband at home in Wales. He uses recycled timber where possible, finished with a light wax coating.

NB. Weaving shown is for illustrative purposes only. Example was woven on a Small Weaving Kit frame. Large kit will include a greater selection of yarns and colours.

Bowl not included

For my 'day job' I run a small fair trade business* supporting spinners and weavers in Chile.
The handspun yarns that I use in my tapestry kits have been produced especially for me.
I am also a weaving teacher, and run courses in traditional 'Mapuche' weaving and decorative tapestry weaving.

PACKAGING:
Little by little I am trying to do my bit for the environment by using recycled packaging where possible.
I re-use old cardboard packaging and bubble wrap for frames and kits.

If for any reason you require 'new' packaging (for example, for a gift), please let me know when you make your order.

NOTE FOR ALLERGY SUFFERERS:
PETS: I process orders in a house with three cats. I am unable to provide information as to the pets that may be present in the houses of the women in Chile who spin my yarn, although I am aware that some do keep dogs.

PLANTS: My handspun Chilean yarns are spun in the home. The women wash, comb and prepare the raw sheeps' fleece themselves. Some of my yarns are also plant dyed. You will expect to find small pieces of plant debris tangled in the wool fibres. A certain amount of dirt and plant debris may come out of the wool on washing. Colour fastness is not affected.
If you do have any concerns/questions, please ask before you order!
