Item details

Lepidocrocite is an iron hydroxide mineral that is most often found growing inside quartz. It forms when iron-bearing minerals are exposed to oxidation and / or weathering. Its name has a Greek origin coming from words that mean scale, thread or fiber.

Although dyed at the same time, no skeins will ever be EXACTLY the same as another due to the dyeing method. Each will have the same tones and hues but each will be different.

Approximately 460 yards/100 grams
75% Superwash Merino wool 25% Nylon, 4 ply fingering weight.
Knit Gauge: 27-32 sts/4in (6.75-8 sts/in)

Hook Size: B 1-E 4 (2.25-3.5mm)

Our Quartz sock base is a fingering weight yarn and is a soft, springy yarn that shows stitch definition really well.

Whether you want long lasting socks or a well wearing lightweight cardigan, this is for you! It is available in a variety of colourways.

All our yarn is dyed with professional dyes in a smoke free home studio.

We try to take pictures of our yarn that accurately reflect the colours but monitors may vary in how they display them.

Due to the nature of hand dyed yarn no skeins are identical. If knitting with more than one (1) skein we recommend that you alternate skeins. If you are wanting to make a larger project please send us a message and we will create a listing just for you and dye the quantity you need. All custom orders have a lead time of 4 weeks as they are dyed to order.

Due to the nature of hand dyed yarn there may be some bleeding during the first wash so we do recommend you had wash all handknits in cool water and separately from other items and lay flat to dry.

Our yarns come from a smoke free but pet friendly home. Although my pets are not around where I dye/ store yarn use caution if you have allergies.

All of your yarns are so beautiful, it’s difficult to choose one or two. I’m always very happy with the yarn and enjoy the great stitch definition it gives. It’s my favorite for knitting socks!
