Here up for sale is 1 oz of sinfully, dreamy, soft french angora rabbit fiber from Dice, one of our Broken (spotted) black French Angora bucks. This fiber is a gorgeous silvery grey varigated fiber, with some white fiber mixed in (more grey than white though) It has a staple average length of 3". Will be a beautiful spin!
This is perfect for spinning as is, or carding or blending it in with wool, alpaca or ??? to create luxury yarns, felt, or other projects. Also would be great just to stick your hand in and pet! It will take up dyes beautifully, I've done many projects with his beautiful fluff dyed in an assortment of colors, and left natural color. It was humanely harvested by carefully clipping the fiber with small pair of scissors to give the bunny a cool summer crew cut :D. Ready to spin right out of the bag!
My bunnies are meticulously cared for and given a special diet to help their hair grow quickly and extra soft! They get groomed and carefully brushed or "blown" out for grooming once a week. With the regular, frequent grooming and handling they become quite friendly and sweet! Once every three or four months when the fiber is long enough they get a hair cut (just like you or me), or get it gently brushed or pulled off, and get to sport a cool 'do until it grows back again. They enjoy the freedom and coolness after wearing all that heavy wool! After hair cuts they go speeding around, hopping and jumping and twisting in their exercise yard or our living room in complete glee! It takes another three+ months until they have another coat grown again. I then card the fiber on hand carders and spin it on my spinning wheel, and it's ready for use once again, this time as an amazingly warm scarf, mittens, hat, etc :D It's a wonderful, interesting, educational, and exciting process!
Note- Our's is an animal loving fun filled house, we DO have cats and dogs who live with us, and are constantly picked up, held, petted, and generally loved on. However they are not allowed to take naps or play in my fiber!!!! (My raw fibers stay bagged unless I'm actually working with them!!!) So it is possible for you to find an occasional stray cat or dog hair in items coming from my shop. You may want to keep this in mind before purchasing, if you are deathly allergic to some animals...
