Ten jet buttons ranging in size and style. My button collection ranges from the 1890's to modern day buttons. I have knowledge of the source of many of them. These are from the time period of Queen Victoria. They were owned by a family member who lived in England. I don't know if the materials are of Whitby origin.
I have performed 3 of the tests determining the authenticity of the material and the buttons passed all three. The are not glass or what people refer to as jet glass which is simply a term used for black glass.
Condition: excellent vintage, small scratches around the shanks from sewing. Size: ranging from 2/3" to 1", two matching sets, other similarities
Material information: Jet is a type of rock formed from organic material, such as wood formed by extreme natural compression It is considered a precious stone, not a mineral.
