Item details

Deep Plum - This yarn is maximum purple! Deep purple tones are contrasted by a lighter plum that is speckled with a purple so dark it's almost black. This yarn co-ordinates very well with Moonbeam and would be beautifully contrasted with Pink Lemonade, Electric Moss or Sweet Sunshine for a colour work or striped project. Please message me if you would like to purchase this yarn on a different base such as my Organic sock or DK wt.

My yarn is dyed using a commercial acid dye that conforms to Global Organic Textile Standard(GOTS) for Organic Fiber Processing. It is also on an Organic eco-processed wool base that is GOTS certified making this yarn a very eco-friendly knitting option. You can feel good about knitting with a product that protects both you, and the earth from unwanted chemicals and pollutants.

This yarn is 100% organic merino wool on a 115g skein giving a generous 202 yards or 184 meters.

While this is an Eco processed yarn I do recommend hand washing and laying flat to dry.

FAQs

Organic wool is fiber that meets 2 main requirements. Firstly, is a social and fair trade requirement, that guarantees correct social and labour practices from farm to consumer and all the steps in between. Secondly, is an environmental protection requirement. This requirement ensures no harmful chemicals are used in any stage of production from sheep to consumer.

Yes, I use a commercial acid dye certified by the GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard) for organic fiber processing.

Yes, the GOTS certified dyes I use are a commercial acid dye and are therefore colour fast to the same standard as any acid dye. I do however recommend hand washing in cool water with a gentle wool wash.

Eco processing is not a traditional superwash process but it does produce a wool product that is anti shrink and anti felting. This process was developed in Europe and is also certified by the GOTS for organic fiber processing. While you can put your beautiful finished object into the washing machine on a cold cycle, I recommend that they be hand washed in cool water for the best longevity of colour and fiber.

I would love to create something just for you! I have posted in my shop a custom listing for an organic skein and a self striping ball. If you are interested is creating a custom colourway please send me a message so we can get started creating!
