This listing is for ONE vintage (1800's-1950's) steel skeleton key, which I will select at random for you. I discovered these at an estate sale in Connecticut. Average length is 3", with a few at 2 3/4" and 3 1/8". These have a wonderful aged patina and a bit of rust and show wear that just can't be duplicated by contemporary copies. Some are stamped with the manufacturer's name. These keys are perfect for mixed media work, assemblage, found object art and jewelry:
- Tie one onto a tassel and loop over a door knob. - Knot with a velvet ribbon in the bride's colors for a wedding keepsake. - Encase in a small shadowbox for a housewarming gift. - Embellish with crystals and seed beads to create collectible pendants. - Stamp initials or an encouraging word on the shaft. - Wrap polymer clay around the shaft or cover with silk thread. - Gild with gold leaf and suspend from a thin red ribbon for a Christmas tree ornament. - Wire wrap and add a pin back for a one-of-a-kind brooch.
I'd love to see what you come up with!
