Our Grizzly base is a 4 ply DK weight yarn made of:

100% Superwash Merino

Each skein is 100g
211 metres /231 yards

This yarn is super soft and bouncy. It is perfect for garment or large accessory knitting. It is ideal for garments worn next to the skin.

Although this yarn contains super wash merino, I always recommend hand washing knitwear and laying it flat to dry to ensure the longevity of the piece.
All yarn in this shop is hand dyed, and therefore we do not have dye lots, and can't ensure that skeins of the same colorway will look the same.
I use colourfast acid dyes on all of my hand dyed yarn, and I rinse the excess dye out of each skein after dyeing. However, sometimes a bit of colour will bleed slightly the first time they are washed. I recommend washing newly knit items separately.
I do my best to capture the true colours of all my products. However, some monitors may show colour differently. Please take this into account while shopping.

Items sent outside of Canada will not be sent with a tracking number. If you would like to have a tracking number for your order, please message us prior to placing your order and we will give you a shipping quote.

We ship from Canada, worldwide. All packages sent within Canada will come with a tracking number.

We do not send items outside of Canada with a tracking number. Often, this can double or triple the cost of shipping. If you would like a tracking number, we will absolutely accommodate you. Simply message us either before placing your order, or within 24 hours of placing your order (before order has shipped) and we will set up a reserved listing for you to cover the cost of a tracked package.

We do not offer a local pickup option for orders. I am not comfortable with strangers coming to my home, and I am not able to make time to meet customers at another location in order for them to pick up their orders. All orders placed will be shipped via Canada Post.

The one exception is if we will be vending at a craft fair/ market near you, and you would like to pick up your order there. If you would like to do this, please message us either before placing an order, or within one hour of placing your order. We will refund your shipping charges AFTER your item is picked up.

Please note that international orders (not including those to the U.S.) may take up to 6 weeks to arrive in some cases. We ask that you please be patient, as lost packages are very rare.
Should your order get lost in the mail, please let us know and we will contact Canada Post right away to resolve the issue. (Please be aware that this process may take up to several weeks.)
We will not consider a package lost until 6 weeks (or 35 business days) has passed.

If you place multiple separate orders and you would like them to ship together, we will absolutely accommodate you, but you must message us within ONE hour of placing the second (and all subsequent) order(s) to let us know. If you do not message us, we may not notice and ship your orders separately. Should this happen, you will not be refunded for the excess shipping, and your items may ship and arrive on different dates.
If you let us know you have placed multiple orders, we will happily ship them together and refund you for the excess shipping you have paid (if the overage is $5 CAD+).

We are not responsible for customs fees in the case of international orders. We will not mark packages as "gift", or at a lesser value to avoid these fees. It is against the law to do this.
In some cases, customs may hold packages, causing a delay in their delivery.

We will refund shipping overages of $5 CAD or more.

All ready to ship items will ship within 5 business days of the order being placed, unless stated otherwise.
This does not apply to made to order items, custom orders, or wholesale orders. Shipping times for these types of orders will vary, and information regarding each case will be included in the item description.


Payments

We accept payment through Paypal, and direct checkout.
We also accept Etsy gift cards.

We do not accept cancellations on orders.

If you purchased the wrong item by mistake, you may exchange it for the correct item, as long as it is available for purchase in the shop.
It is a good idea to purchase the correct item as soon as you realize the mistake so it does not sell out. We will then refund you for the original purchase if you send us a message and let us know.

If you exchange an item, please be aware that the item(s) from your original order will be put back into the shop and be available for purchase immediately.

If you are using a coupon code, it must be applied at the time of checkout. We will not refund you later on if you forgot to use your coupon code.
Occasionally, we have sales on everything in our etsy shop. You must take advantage of the sale while it is happening. We will not partially refund your purchase if you place an order either before the sale starts, or after it ends. Items purchased either with a coupon code or during a shop sale will be non refundable.

The following items can't be returned or exchanged
Because of the nature of these items, unless they arrive damaged or defective, I can't accept returns for:
  • Custom or personalized orders
  • Perishable products (like food or flowers)
  • Digital downloads
  • Intimate items (for health/hygiene reasons)
  • Items on sale
Conditions of return
Buyers are responsible for return shipping costs. If the item is not returned in its original condition, the buyer is responsible for any loss in value.
Additional return information
If there is a problem with your order, please don't hesitate to contact us. We will do everything we can to resolve the issue.
If you are not completely satisfied with your purchase, please contact us right away (within 14 days of receiving it). You may return it, in its original condition within 30 days of receiving it.
We will not send out your refund until we have received the item, and confirmed it is undamaged/ unused.
Yarn that has been caked or wound is not refundable. We will only issue a refund for items that are resellable.

Shipping charges from your initial purchase will not be refunded, and the buyer is responsible for the return postage on the item.

We do not give refunds on custom orders or wholesale orders.

Items purchased at markets, craft fairs, in person, etc. are non refundable.

Items purchased on sale or with a coupon code are non refundable.

Additional policies

All items are made in a smoke free, pet friendly home.
If you have an extreme allergy to cats or dogs, you may want to reconsider purchasing from our shop.
Shop items are kept in airtight containers and pet-free areas. We also do our best to check all items for odd cat hair before shipping. On occasion, you may receive an item with a cat hair on it. We deeply apologize for this. It is extremely difficult to be sure this does not happen 100% of the time.

I do my best to accurately represent the colours of all products. However, different monitors will show colour differently. Please take this into account while shopping. I lightly retouch my photos to better display the colour and texture of my products.

All yarn is hand dyed by us. We dye in small batches, and therefore there are no dye lots. There will be some variation in colour between skeins, as that is the nature of hand dyed yarn. No two skeins will be exactly alike.
If you are using our yarn for a larger project, ALWAYS alternate skeins to camouflage any colour differences between skeins.
Be sure to purchase all the yarn needed for a project at one time. If you would like a large quantity of yarn, I recommend contacting me about a custom order so that all the yarn will be dyed at the same time, and therefore more similar from skein to skein.

We do our best to fully rinse out excess dye after dyeing. However, some colour bleeding the first time you wash your project is common. We recommend washing in cold water, and separately from all other items. This is especially crucial for the first wash, as this is when colour is most likely to bleed.

Project bags may vary slightly in size from the listed dimensions.

As of 2016, we are trying to cut down on our shop paper use. All shop orders will be sent WITHOUT an invoice unless you request one before your order has shipped.

It is the buyers' responsibility to read all shop policies before placing an order.


Custom orders:

IMPORTANT** At this time, we are not accepting any custom orders. I am currently on maternity leave, and will not be able to dye custom orders for several months. Below are our shop policies on custom orders under normal circumstances. They are not applicable at this time.

During our regular business operations, our custom order policies are as follows:

We will no longer be allowing customers to reserve items going into an update. We want to make shop updates fair for everyone.

We are no longer taking any custom orders for project bags.

We do accept custom orders for yarn.

We do not dye mini skein sets for custom orders.

We charge an additional 10% fee for custom orders. You can choose the colorway from our regularly dyed colorways (check the "Sold" section of our shop to see different options, and the Colorways page of our website - thefawnandthefox.net).
We do not dye custom colorways - meaning we will not create a brand new colorway for you, with the exception of wholesale orders (see below for more information on this).
Seasonal colorways will not be available for custom orders unless they are currently available in the shop.
Custom orders will ship 1-3 weeks from the order date, depending on the current turnaround time. Please message us for a time estimate.
If you would like to place a custom order (for yarn only - we do not make custom project bags), please send us a message here on Etsy.
We will then create a reserved listing for you. Payment must be made in full before we dye your yarn.
All custom orders are final sale.

Wholesale orders:

*IMPORTANT* We are currently not taking any wholesale orders until further notice. I am on maternity leave, and will not be able to dye large quantities of yarn for a while. If you would like us to send you a wholesale price sheet and list of our policies, for future reference, please send us an etsy message.


During regular business operations, our wholesale policies are as follows:

Our acceptance of wholesale orders will depend on the current volume of orders in our shop. If you are interested in placing a wholesale order, please write us a detailed message including the size of order you would like to place, what specific yarn bases you are interested in, and the date you would like your order to be finished.
We will return your message as quickly as possible to let you know if we can meet your requirements.
If you would like to see a price sheet for all of our yarn bases, read our wholesale policies, and see different discounts that are available, please message us.

We are no longer making project bags in wholesale quantities.

The minimum order size for a wholesale order is 30 skeins of yarn (Minimum of a 6 skeins per colorway).
Please allow 4-6 weeks for your order to be completed (depending on the size, and current turnaround time).
If you are interested in a custom colorway for your wholesale order, we are happy to work with you to come up with something you are happy with. Please be aware that an additional charge of 20% will apply for this service. We will do a maximum of 3 re-dyes to get the colorway right.

The buyer is responsible for ALL shipping costs. Wholesale orders will always be sent with a tracking number. We are happy to provide you with a shipping quote.
We are not responsible for customs fees in the case of international orders. Your order will be sent in one package. We will not mark down the value of the package to avoid customs fees.

We require a minimum of 50% payment for all items and shipping prior to beginning work on your order. The other 50% will be due once the order ships.
Wholesale orders will be final sale.

Privacy Policy:

In order to complete your order, I need to collect certain personal information from you. This includes your name, mailing address, payment information and sometimes phone number. In order for me to obtain this information, you will have had to authorize Etsy (and PayPal, if using) to collect it and provide it to me.
I will not share your personal information with third party marketing sites.
I will not send you marketing emails (newsletters, etc.) directly unless I have your permission to do so. You may revoke your consent to receive such emails at any time. Etsy may send you emails on my behalf - such as shipping notifications, promotional emails, or coupon codes. You can opt out of receiving these emails through your Etsy settings.
I am required to share your personal information with Etsy to comply with Etsy's Seller Policy and Terms of Use.
I also share your personal information (name, address, phone number) with Canada Post in order to mail your order to you.
I may be required to share your personal information in response to government request in order to investigate fraud or other illegal activity.
I generally keep your personal information for a period of 5 years. Some information may be kept longer in the case of resolving disputes,
