Packet of 10 Seed for growing annual organic Italian White Sunflowers / Helianthus annuus or Helianthus debilis
This heirloom produces white and creamy yellow 4-inch flowers with dark chocolate-brown centers and many blooms. The seeds are smaller than most other annual sunflowers but please leave them to dry on the flower stalk as they are a delicious food source for the birds, especially our favorite, the goldfinch!
Multi branched, it grows best in full sun, stalk height may reach 4 to 6'. Wonderful cut flower, it will attract loads of pollinators including native bees and butterflies.
Italian White Sunflowers are fast growers and will begin blooming in Summer and continue through the fall.
Seed may be direct sown in your garden bed after all danger of frost is past and the soil has warmed (late Spring!) or if you're like us, you'll want to start some early indoors! Either way seed should be covered with about 1/2" of soil, germination rate is generally 7 to 14 days.
Our seed is grown and hand harvested by us at just the right time of year to aid in germination for you. Seed has been test germinated and the results were great.
Packet of 10 ships in a small brown envelope with the name and quantity hand printed on the packet. Saving you money and helping us to share our bounty with you! Please refer back here if you need the instructions for planting your seed.
