Originally designed in Scandinavia, the Nostepinne tool used to wind a ball of yarn from a hank or a spinning bobbin. It functions as the center of the ball while you wind the yarn around it. Once you have wound the ball, you slide it off the nostepinne, allowing the yarn to be pulled from the center, the outside, or both.
Second photo is of Boxwood or Rosewood Nostepinnes, both hardwoods, smoothly finished and made in two basic sizes with round or square end design. Choose length, design and wood type from drop down box at upper right.
Third photo is of Kromski's Nostepinnes in all finishes they offer - unfinished, clear lacquer, Walnut and Mahogany. This Kromski nostepinne is made in Poland of hardwood and finished with either a clear finish, mahogany stain, or walnut stain. Choose wood finish from drop down box at upper right. Kromski's Nostepinne measures approximately 11 1/4" with a diameter of about 1".

Beautiful wood and finishing on the nostepinne. The only thing I could wish for would be a slightly longer handle -- I have large hands, and found the handle a little short.
