Item details

This listing is for a 40 inch strand of kiln fired raku beads with various glazes. They measure about 4-10mm wide on the glazed surface and 10-20mm across the surface with the hole. Some beads are large focal beads. The holes for stringing are 1-2 mm, and are pretty well centered. All these beads are partially glazed and organic in shape. Only the strand with the blue glaze on white stoneware have a 1mm hole and are not raku.

Also included in this sale are 2 house beads.

40 inches kiln fired raku beads $120
2 house beads $14

*The raku process produces surface irregularities and can produce small chips, thermal shock lines, color transfer, pin holes, marks from stacking and crazing. Raku produces soot most of which can be washed off, but some remains. Glazes can be irregular. I have washed and rinsed all beads with baking soda then filed areas that were too rough. The black coloration is absorbed into the surface of the bead and ranges in color from black to light gray. The beads can sometimes smell smoky, especially close to production, but it fades over time. All clay beads are breakable. These are not toys.*

I usually don't describe colors, so if you need a specific color and you aren't sure based on the pictures please don't hesitate to ask. I can send more pictures or try to clarify before you make a purchase.

These beads are new and never used.

I am most interested in the buyer being happy with a handmade item. My hope is that the buyer can appreciate that a purchase is supporting an artist. I will refund any damaged or lost item in full including shipping.

Additional policies

I presently do not take custom orders.

If I reserve something for you I will email you to let you know. I will keep it reserved for you until you let me know you don't want it. Please note that there is no obligation or pressure to buy a reserved item.

I can adjust quantities in each listing. You can convo me and I'll change the listing.

All my beads are different, so with pricing I try to categorize them according to difficulty....layers, how many sides are glazed, how big they are, carving etc...

All artists are encouraged by a purchase. I enjoy buying handmade items as much as I enjoy making them. What you buy from an artist won't be perfect. It may not be exactly what you expect, but it is handmade. Buying handmade is unique and rewarding but what I like the most is that it is two artists do anything the same. I think that is the best part of buying handmade.
