Item details

Here we have a rare antique railroad wrench by the Chicago, Milwaukee and Puget Sound Railroad (CM & PSRY). Based on the history of the Milwaukee Road, I believe this wrench was produced between 1906 and 1912. Name changes occurred before and after (see history below). I salute the crew that used this bad boy on a daily basis. It's a belter with a capital "B." Man, I hope no one lost their temper while holding this thing. Major impact.

This piece came out of the estate of a collector in Minnesota. The white tag was included when I acquired it. I haven't found another one on the internet as of yet.

Here's the info courtesy of Wikipedia:

"The Milwaukee Road, officially the Chicago, Milwaukee, St. Paul and Pacific Railroad (reporting mark MILW), was a Class I railroad that operated in the Midwest and Northwest of the United States from 1847 until 1980, when its Pacific Coast Extension was embargoed in the states of Montana, Idaho, and Washington. Its core Midwest system was merged into the Soo Line Railroad on January 1, 1986. The Pacific Coast Extension from the Midwest to the Pacific Northwest, planned between 1901 and 1906 and built between 1906 and 1909, was carried out under the auspices of the Chicago, Milwaukee and Puget Sound Railroad. This corporate entity was folded into its parent company in 1912."

Here's a cool article about the completion of the Chicago, Milwaukee and Puget Sound Railroad:

Here's another article about the Milwaukee Road:

The wrench is about 20" long, The gap on one end is 1 3/4", and 2" on the other. The piece is an old brick house of an item, and it shows it. Everywhere you will find great patina and evidence of use, including rust, discoloration and general surface wear. Please see all pics as they are part of the description.

I ship to the continental USA only. Free shipping on this one.

Gotta love the old railroad stuff. You can tell a tool like this helped build America. Don't miss out.

I ship FedEx Ground on all purchases. I'll usually get it shipped within 1-2 days. Shipping time is usually 2-4 business days. You can provide your FedEx account number if you want to speed up the delivery process (2 day, overnight, etc). When this occurs, the total shipping charge will be put on your FedEx account, and I will refund my total shipping fee. I used this process for a few purchases and it worked out well.

To ensure the safest transit, I pay FedEx to package and ship the items. I give my best guess when it comes to the shipping price. If the total shipping costs less than the shipping fee in the listing, I will refund the difference. If it costs more, I will incur the costs.

FedEx does not allow PO Box addresses, so I follow their lead. If you don't have a street address to send to, please refrain from purchasing. If a purchase occurs with only a PO Box as a shipping address, I will reach out to you and request a street address. If it doesn't work out, I will refund the total and cancel the purchase.

I'm willing to pay for a direct signature confirmation for items $50 or more. I can also send it directly to the nearest FedEx and you can pick it up at your convenience. Please let me know when you purchase the item what you prefer. If you want FedEx to leave the package if you're not home, just let me know. I tend to default to a direct signature confirmation at the address given unless you say otherwise or the item is less than $50.

If you're in the Twin Cities area, I'm open to doing local delivery. Let me know what you're thinking.

I ship within the continental United States only. First time I tried shipping outside the US was the last time I tried it. Still have the scar. I'll arrange the payment and logistics to send the item anywhere in the continental USA. If you want it to go international, you'll need to step in at that point. If you have a FedEx account to use for shipping, then international shipping is definitely a possibility. In that case, I would refund my shipping fee and you will pay the shipping on your account.

I accept Paypal. I don't accept checks. If you another option you want to discuss, let me know.
