Item details

Tahkli style support spindle, extra light, titanium tipped in Flame Oak and Dymondwood

This heirloom quality small support spindle has a small whorl on a Dymondwood shaft around 225 mm long, or about 9 in, weighing about 0.6 oz (18 g). It is fast and light with the trademark perfect spin of my spindles. The small whorl of Flame Oak from Queensland is a pretty shape, hollowed on both faces. Photos show an item very similar to the item you will receive. Dymondwood is a composite wood material made from dyed birch veneers laminated together, and is very hard wearing and strong.

The spindle is finished to a very smooth surface, polished with a french polish and then a final gloss of carnauba wax for a long lasting shine and protection. The support tip has a carefully shaped titanium point for long spins and is made for long life and low friction. The whorl is balanced with two tiny silver inlays for perfect spin.

Your spindle is checked for quality and spin before despatch and comes with tip protectors and is packed with some Tasmanian Merino roving and a signed tag with the woods used listed and date of making.

The spindle operates at a very high speed and is very easy to flick with a small diameter where it is held to be flicked allowing high rotation speeds to be achieved with ease. It is suited to short staple fibres such as silk or cotton for very fine singles.

Returns & exchanges

Cancellations - please consider carefully when you order as I do not accept cancellation requests unless there are exceptional circumstances. An order cancellation involves quite a bit of time as the original order has to be removed from our database, after being entered and customer records created, refunds arranged and we have to correspond with Etsy about it. The goods involved are also then unavailable to buyers, for up to a week after we send a cancellation request to Etsy. In the event that we agree to a cancellation, we may then then make a cancellation charge of $10 US or 10% of the order value whichever is greater to cover our losses in administration time. In law in most countries a paid order is a contract between both parties, Etsy.com policy is that cancellations are at the sole discretion of the supplier.

I will replace goods at my cost (or refund item costs) that are found to be faulty in manufacture for up to six months from sale. Faulty items must normally be returned to me. Damage caused by inappropiate use or fair wear and tear is not covered by my warranty. The buyer is responsible for the cost of returning items to me, replacements will be shipped free of charge.

I can quote to repair items that have been damaged by the owner or accidentally. Please contact me for details.
