Chimera Night is a color shifting nail polish and part of the Mythological Night collection. It is a cool black jelly base with color shifting shimmer made by combining the four pigments in the other four types of Mythological polishes (Phoenix, Dragon, Unicorn, and Kelpie). The effect isn’t the obvious transition of a single color shifting pigment alone, but has more of a “points of light” effect. Chimera Night is meant to be opaque with two or three coats, but can also be layered to preserve the polish.
The base color of the Mythological Night polishes was originally developed for a custom polish named Onyxia, and the customer who commissioned it was kind enough to give permission for the base color to be used for other Starlight Polishes!
Chimera is the newest creature to join the Mythological creatures. Before the introduction of Kelpie to the Mythological line, a customer requested a blend of the three existing Mythological top coats (Phoenix, Dragon, and Unicorn), and named that resulting top coat Uniphoedra. I tried to find a way to work “Kelpie” in to the name, so I could continue the naming convention, but wasn’t able to. Instead, I’ve gone with the name “Chimera,” which feels appropriate for a top coat that is a combination of the other four Mythological creatures. As each of the creatures in the Mythological line is tied to a specific pigment, a Chimera polish will contain all four of the color shifting pigments from the Mythological line.

The color shifting pigments in the Chimera polishes are a combination of the four pigments used in the other types of Mythological polishes (Phoenix, Dragon, Unicorn, and Kelpie). These pigments can produce different ranges of color shift, from the red to green of "unicorn pee" pigment to the gold to green, green to blue, and teal to violet of "unicorn pee sibling" pigments.
Chimera Night is a custom polish, made from scratch with nail lacquer base, pigments, and color shifting pigment. Starlight Polish is 5 free, meaning free of DBP, toluene, formaldehyde, formaldehyde resin, and camphor, and contains no carmine or other animal-derived pigments.
