100 Gamle Nordiske Hulsømme/ 110 old Scandinavian hemstitch patterns, collected by Clara Waever and published by N.C. Dyrlund in Copenhagen in 1940-s.
Vintage inspired hemstitch.
Hemstitch or hem-stitch is a decorative drawn thread work or openwork hand-sewing technique for embellishing the hem of clothing or household linens. Unlike an ordinary hem, hemstitching can employ embroidery thread in a contrasting color so as to be noticeable. Hemstitching adds an exceptional charming detail that can be used to decorate almost everything.
The book is a softcover large format, has description of the technique and 100 plates with suggested motives to follow. The book is in Danish but there is no problem following the drawings to perform the technique.
There are signs of wear, front cover has some names and numbers written and there is a sticker from Carl Permin establishment; the inside is as new.
